Ação de Micoflora de efluentes agroindustriais sobre diferentes corantes e substratos lignocelulósicos - doi: 10.4025/actascibiolsci.v33i4.6187 Biological Sciences
Perovano Filho, Natalino; UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS, INSTITUTO DE QUÍMICA E BIOTECNOLOGIA; Silva, Kelly Fernanda Seára da; UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS, INSTITUTO DE QUÍMICA E BIOTECNOLOGIA; López, Ana Maria Queijeiro; UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE ALAGOAS, INSTITUTO DE QUÍMICA E BIOTECNOLOGIA.

Blockade of the action of nitric oxide in human septic shock increases systemic vascular resistance and has detrimental effects on pulmonary function after a short infusion of methylene blue BJMBR
Weingartner,R.; Oliveira,E.; Oliveira,E.S.; Sant'Anna,U.L.; Oliveira,R.P.; Azambuja,L.A.; Friedman,G..
To investigate the role of nitric oxide in human sepsis, ten patients with severe septic shock requiring vasoactive drug therapy and mechanical ventilation were enrolled in a prospective, open, non-randomized clinical trial to study the acute effects of methylene blue, an inhibitor of guanylate cyclase. Hemodynamic and metabolic variables were measured before and 20, 40, 60, and 120 min after the start of a 1-h intravenous infusion of 4 mg/kg of methylene blue. Methylene blue administration caused a progressive increase in mean arterial pressure (60 [55-70] to 70 [65-100] mmHg, median [25-75th percentiles]; P<0.05), systemic vascular resistance index (649 [479-1084] to 1066 [585-1356] dyne s-1 cm-5 m-2; P<0.05) and the left ventricular stroke...

Evaluation of inhibitory effect of methylene blue against Babesia and Theileria parasites OAK
Tuvshintulga, B.; Sivakumar, T.; Salama, A.A.; Yokoyama, N.; Igarashi, I; 五十嵐, 郁男; 横山, 直明.
Methylene blue, the first fully synthetic drug, has been widely used in medical treatments. A few decades ago, this drug was used as an antimalarial agent. In this study, the in vitro inhibitory effect of methylene blue on Babesia bovis, B. bigemina, B. caballi, and Theileria equi (B. equi) and the in vivo inhibitory effect on B. microti were evaluated. Methylene blue significantly inhibited the growth of B. bovis, B. caballi, and T. equi at a 0.1 μM concentration, while B. bigemina was significantly inhibited at 0.01 μM, on day 3 of cultivation. The half maximal inhibitory concentrations (IC50) of methylene blue against B. bovis, B. bigemina, B. caballi, and T. equi were calculated as 0.83±0.02, 0.68±0.09, 0.54±0.14, and 0.49±0.06 μM, respectively. The...

Methylene blue 1% solution on the prevention of intraperitoneal adhesion formation in a dog model Ciência Rural
Silva,Marco Augusto Machado; Silva,Olízio Claudino da; Silva,Luiz Antônio Franco da; Ribeiro,Raquel Cunha; Jorge,Paula Marina Brito; Helou,Jalily Bady; Teixeira,Pedro Paulo Maia; Brun,Maurício Veloso.
Intraperitoneal adhesions usually are formed after abdominal surgeries and may cause technical difficulties during surgical intervention, chronic abdominal pain and severe obstructions of the gastrointestinal tract. The current study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of methylene blue (MB) 1% solution on the prevention of intraperitoneal postsurgical adhesion formation in a canine surgical trauma model. Twenty bitches were submitted to falciform ligament resection, omentectomy, ovariohysterectomy and scarification of a colonic segment. Prior to abdominal closure, 10 bitches received 1mg kg-1 MB intraperitoneally (MB group) and 10 bitches received no treatment (control group, CT). On the 15th postoperative day the bitches were submitted to laparoscopy to...

Reversal by methylene blue of tetanic fade induced in cats by nitric oxide BJMBR
Ambiel,C.R.; Alves-Do-Prado,W..
Previous data from our laboratory have indicated that nitric oxide (NO) acting at the presynaptic level increases the amplitude of muscular contraction (AMC) of the phrenic-diaphragm preparations isolated from indirectly stimulated rats, but, by acting at the postsynaptic level, it reduces the AMC when the preparations are directly stimulated. In the present study we investigated the effects induced by NO when tetanic frequencies of stimulation were applied to in vivo preparations (sciatic nerve-anterior tibial muscle of the cat). Intra-arterial injection of NO (0.75-1.5 mg/kg) induced a dose-dependent increase in the Wedensky inhibition produced by high frequencies of stimulation applied to the motor nerve. Intra-arterial administration of 7.2 µg/kg...

Subzygomatic and infraorbital approaches for maxillary nerve blockade in cats’ cadaver Ciência Rural
Becerra,José Ricardo Herrera; Tisotti,Tainor de Mesquita; Baier,Maria Eduarda; Leite-Filho,Ronaldo Viana; Mombach,Verônica Santos; Costa,Fernanda Vieira Amorim da; Monteiro,Eduardo Raposo.
ABSTRACT: This study compared the accuracy of dye placement on the maxillary nerve by using the percutaneous subzigomatic (SBZ) and infraorbitary (IO) approaches in cats’ cadavers. A second aim was to compare the accuracy of dye placement on the maxillary nerve between different untrained anesthetists. This was a prospective, randomized, blinded study, performed in 40 heads obtained from feline cadavers. Three veterinarians (A, B and C) with no previous experience with the IO approach performed the experiments. The SBZ approach was randomly performed on one side of the head and the IO approach was performed in the contralateral side of the same head. For each approach, 0.2ml of 1% methylene blue dye was injected. Scores for length of nerve staining were as...
